The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today filed a case against former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake for giving false evidence before the Bond Commission. 

The legal action was taken as per the recommendations of the final report of the Presidential commission inquiring into the bond scam. 

Karunanayake came under pressure to quit his post after it was revealed that he had attempted to mislead the inqyiry by giving false evidence. 

The former Minister, however, denied any wrongdoing and said it was a politically orchestrated campaign to vilify him.
