The Criminal Investigations Department today questioned Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa for a few hours over the abduction of jorunalist Keith Nohar.
Rajapaksa, who appeared before the CID this morning, left the premises a short wihile ago, our reporters said.
The CID had questioned Rajapaksa about his alleged involvement in the incident. It had been widely alleged that Noyar was abducted by a group attached to the military intelligence wing operated under the supervision of some senior members of the defence establishment.
Before summoning the former Defence Secretary, the CID recorded a statement from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa over Noyahr's abduction.
It is learnt that the CID will also record a statement from former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka. In several public statements, Fonseka, the man who led the Army for nearly five years under the Rajapaksa administration, had denied any knowlegde of the abduction.
He had said the military groups involved in illegal activities operated under the supervision of the former Defence Secretary.
