UNP Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara said Parliamentarian Chathura Senaratne paid Rs. 2180000 to use the main reception hall of the Temple Trees for his wedding.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo today, Bandara said the general public too could use the use after going through the due process.
"The Temple Trees hall is open to the public when it is not used for official functions," he said.
Issuing a statement last week, the Prime Minister's Office also stated that Parliamentarian Seneratne used the hall after fulfilling the standard procedure.
The statement said not a cent of public money was used for the Parliamentarian's wedding.
It also stated the main hall was located outside the area used by the Prime Minister and his staff for official purposes.
JVP former Parliamentarian Wasantha Samarasinghe has already filed an RTI request seeking more information on the wedding.
Senaratne's wedding is the first full-scale wedding ceremony hosted at Temple Trees.
