Sri Lanka's strike spinner Akhila Dhananhjaya is likely to miss the first leg of the Asia Cup tournament as he is wife is expected to deliver their first baby in mid-September.
Dhananjaya, who was Sri Lanka's main spinner in the series against South Africa, is expected to join the team after September 20.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's experienced middle order batsman Dinesh Chandimal may also miss the first half of the tournament due to an injury to his figure.
Chandimal was also supposed to be wicketkeeper during the Asia Cup in place of Sri Lanka's regular wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.
SLC sources said if Chandimal did not recover on time, wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella will join the team.
Dickwella was initially left out of the squad due to his mediocre performance in recent international tournaments.
He did not perform notable during the recently concluded domestic T20 League as well.
