The Colombo Fort Magistrate has ordered to arrest four ultra-nationalist Buddhist monks and present them in court for damaging public property during a demonstration.
The court has ordered Police to arrest Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, Iththakande Saddhatissa Thera, Medille Pragnaloka Thera and Magalkande Sudaththa Thera present them before the Magistrate.
All four of them are stalwarts of ultra-nationalist Buddhist organizations and have openly expressed support to former Defence Secteray Gotabhaya Rajapaksa's political campaign.
The Police had informed court that the Buddhist monks had damaged public property during a protest held by disabled soldiers last year.
There were allegations that these monks were behaving in a provocative manner during the protest.
