General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena Organization Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, who is currently serving a 06 year imprisonment, has been transferred to the Prison Hospital from the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital. Asian Mirror learns. 

Gnanasara Thera reportedly underwent a surgery at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital recently to remove a stone from his kidney. 

Gnanasara Thera was hospitalized for the surgery a day before his verdict was given by the court of appeal. 

Hospital sources said the Thera was  transferred to the Prisons Hospital under strict security. 

Gnanasara Thera has been convicted for committing contempt of court by threatening Sandhya Ekneligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, within the Homagama Magistrate's Court premises. 

However, it is not entirely clear as to when Gnanasara Thera will be transferred to the Welikada Prison. 

A source close to Gnanasara Thera told 'Asian Mirror' that the monk still needed "medical attention".
