Marking the lastest in a chain of shooting incidents in Colombo, a woman was gunned down near a mosque in Maligawatte, last evening. 

The victim was a 31 year old woman and a resident of Maligawatte. She was wounded due to gun shots and was rushed to the hospital. 

Upon admission to the Colombo National Hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries. 

The Police Media Unit, in a statement said, the gunmen came in a motorbike. Further investigations are underway to arrest the culprits. 

Several shooting incidents were reported in Colombo over the past month. Police have so far arrested three underworld figures over the shooting incidents in Pettah and Modara.
