Indian politician Dr. Subramaniam Swamy visited Medamulana today to meet former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Upon meeting the former President, Swamy extended an invitation to him to address a public gathering in New Delhi, India, on September 12.
Former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa was also alongside Rajapaksa when the latter met Swamy at his Medamulana residence this morning.
Swamy is considered a close friend of former President Rajapaksa and supported the latter's government during the final phase of war against the LTTE.
Tweeting on the meeting, Rajapaksa said he was honoured by the invitation extended by Dr. Swamy, the leader of the Virat Hindustan Sangam.
He also said Swamy had Sri Lanka's best interests at heart.
Swmay, a veteran politician, was an elected member of the Indian Parliament five times between 1974 and 1999.
