The Criminal Investigations Department is currently recording a statement from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the latter's residence in Colombo. 

The statement, according to the Police, is on the abduction of journalist Keith Noyahr.

Sources said Rajapaksa was being questioned as several references had been made to him by other witnesses.  

Noyahr, former Deputy Editor of The Nation newspaper, was abducted in Dehiwala in May, 2008. 

He was tortured and later released by the abductors.
