Railway trade unions threatened to launch another strike today as yesterday's Cabinet meeting had not made any decision on the Cabinet paper with regard to their salary anomalies.
The unions said President Maithripala Sirisena, at the discussion held in Polonnaruwa last Sunday, promised to implement the Cabinet paper to resolve their salary issue.
Despite the promise, the unions said, the Cabinet had not made any decision on the matter.
Therefore, the unions said they were discussing the possibility of another union action.
However, at the Cabinet meeting yesterday, ministers decided to appoint a special salaries commission to look into salary issues of all state sector employees.
