The Police Special Task Force was moved in to diffuse the tense situation at Fort, a short while ago. 

Pandemonium reigned in the area when railway commuters staged a protest against an unannounced trade union action by railway workers. 

They blocked the main road in front of the railway station obstructing vehicle movement. 

They demanded to privatize the railway service to 'discipline' the unionized railway department. 

The incident took place after several railway unions launched a sudden strike at 3 pm today demanding a salary hike.
