Contradicting a statement made by Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne , the Finance Ministry said no decision had been made to reduce the income tax ceiling on doctors from 24% to 15%. 

Multiple news reports, quoting Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne, said the Finance Minister agreed to reduce the income tax ceiling on doctors. 

Speaking to media, Senaratne said the GMOA had won one of its demands getting the government to reduce the income tax ceiling on doctors.

The announcement followed a discussion among the Finance Minister, the Health Ministers and specialist doctors, this evening.
