Joint Opposition stalwart Dinesh Gunawardena will not receive the opposition leader's post in Parliament, informed political sources told Asian Mirror.
The majority of UPFA MPs have opposed Gunawardena's nomination as the Opposition Leader.
They have instead suggested to nominated Kumara Welgama, a member of the SLFP, as the Opposition Leader.
Gunawardena is the leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, a minor coalition partner of the UPFA.
However, the UPFA's official opinion on the post of Opposition Leader is likely to be informed to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya by UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera today.
