Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando was officially appointed today as the Communications and Propaganda Secretary of the UNP. 

The appointment was made as part of a series of party reforms initiated following the UNP's setback at the last Local Government election. 

The appointment letter was handed over to Fernando by Prime  Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today, in the presence of several other party stalwarts. 

With the new appointment, the propaganda machinery of the party will be placed under Minister Fernando. 

"As Party Leader, I officially appointed Minister Harin Fernando to his new role as Communication and Propaganda Secretary for the UNP as part of the new leadership team I have put in place to drive the Party forward," the Prime Minister tweeted this afternoon.
