'Publicize Names Of 18 MPs Who Openly Supported Aloysius: Even Ranjan Accepted Money From Gem Businessmen' - Dayasiri

Former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera who recently accepted that he obtained Rs. 1 million from controversial businessman Arjuna Aloysius challenged to disclose names of 18 MPs who openly supported Aloysius on the bond fiasco.

"Their names are included in the Bond Commission report. I challenge the government to make those names public," Jayasekera said today, while speaking to media in Colombo.

"I accepted money from Aloysius during the election period. Many politicians do that. Even Ranjan Ramaayake obtained money from gen businessmen in Ratnaputa for his election campaigns," he said.

"But I never supported Aloysius over the bind fiasco. I was very critical of him and pushed for action."

"I never put footnotes in reports nor did I write books to protect him," he added.

The Criminal Investigations Department informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate last week that former Minister and UPFA MP Dayasiri Jayasekera had received Rs. 1 million from a company owned by Arjuna Aloysius.

The CID said Walt and Row company, owned by Perpetual Treasuries owner Aloysius, had paid this money to Jayasekera two years ago.

According to the CID, the former Minister had asked his security officer, Amila Kumara Herath, to encash a cheque (Bearing number 566635) issued by Walt & Row Associates (under the current account number 0073900773).
