Sri Lankan Cricketer Dhananjaya de Silva's father has been shot dead in Ratmalana, Police sources said. 

De Silva's father, they added, was a Local Government council member representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.

He died in a shootout in the Ratmalana area which also injured two others. 

Sri Lanka Cricket sources said Dhananjaya de Silva has immediately withdrawn himself from Sri Lanka's tour of West Indies. 

The Sri Lankan national cricket team was scheduled to leave for West Indies tomorrow.
