The Navy has alerted the government authorities that the Parliamentary complex in Kotte might go underwater if the water levels of Diyawanna Oya rise further.
The Parliamentary complex came under water several years ago when Colombo experienced heavy rains and lawmakers had to use boats to move out of the premises.
The Met Department, in a statement said yesterday, Colombo will experience heavy rains exceeding 150 mm in the next 24 hours.
The Disaster Management Centre said this morning that over 120000 people have been affected by inclement weather so far with 11 deaths.
