Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake said an official statement on the reparation of toilets at the Mayor's residence.
Posting a Tweet a short while ago, Senanayake said media statements on the matter are false.
Senanayake came under severe pressure on social media for spending Rs. 5.7 million for renovation of toilets at her official residence.
Many critiques held the view that spending Rs. 5.7 million to renovate a toilet was "unnecessary". She has also come under fire over the same matter from opposition members of the Colombo Municipal Council.
However, a source close to Senanayake said the toilets of the Mayor's official residence had not been renovated for four years.
"It is not a personal property. It is a public property and it is the new Mayor's duty to renovate the toilets," he said.
