The Meteorological Department warned of heavy rains in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, following heavy rains, five spill gates in the Udawalawe reservoir and two spill gates in the Kala Wewa have been opened, the Disaster Management Centre announced.
People downstream of the reservoirs have been advised to be vigilant.
Sri Lanka is facing the onset of the South Western monsoon, which runs from May and September.
