The Joint Opposition MP Dilum Amunugama was allowed to go home by the Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) after 12 hours of questioning.
The Parliamentarian left the TID premises a short while ago, Police sources said.
He arrived at the TID this morning to give a statement on the recent racially motivated violence in Kandy, along with Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and several other JO activists.
Some Local Government politicians of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna have been remanded over violence in the Kandy district.
They are believed to be strong supporters of MP Amunugama.
The Parliamentarian is a nephew of SLFP stalwart Minister Sarath Amunugama.
