Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the new Agriculture Sector Modernisation Project would attract private sector investment to smallholder farmers.
"It will their competitiveness and making them more attractive business partners for larger producers," the Prime Minister said in a Tweet, yesterday.
This means more jobs in the sector and better futures for rural communities," he also added.
A World Bank project, implemented through the Ministry of Primary Industries, the Ministry of Agriculture, and five participating provinces including the Northern, Eastern, Central, North-Central and Uva Provinces is under way with the aim of assisting Sri Lanka in modernizing its agricultural sector
