Over 2000 professionals and business leaders gathered at the viyath maga forum, initiated by former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, at the Shangri-la hotel yesterday. 

The event was aimed at promoting the former Defence Secretary's vision for 2030 as he is one of the key presidential aspirants at the moment. 

The forum titled ‘An Intellectually Inspired Sri Lanka 2030’. 

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa also attended the event. Some members of the Joint Opposition were also seen among the participants. 

Business tycoon Harry Jayawardena, Prof. Rohan Gunaratne and Dr. Dayan Jayatilleke, former Chief Justice Sarath N Silva  were some of the notable figures present at Sunday's event.
