During the meeting the Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said there shouldn’t be clashes between top members of the Cricket Administration and everyone should work towards a common goal.
The Sports Minister also added that he took over the Ministry when the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) was running into a deep financial crisis. He said he went beyond the role of the Minister and negotiated with banks to obtain overdrafts to rescue the Cricket Administration from the crisis.
“Therefore”, the Minister said “the top administration should understand their roles and take measures to ensure the betterment of the SLC”.
The meeting took place in a context where SLC President Jayantha Dharamadasa has instructed the SLC to refrain from taking orders from its Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga.
Although a spokesman from the Sports Ministry stated that all parties who attended the meeting agreed to work together, Asian Mirror reliably learns that the crisis is very much alive.
Secretary of the Sports Ministry Anura Jayawickrama was also among the members who participated to the meeting.
