Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe with the passage of Judicature Amendment Bill in Parliament yesterday, the government was ready to bring those guilty of corruption to justice 'much quicker'.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, "Despite the Joint Opposition voting AGAINST the Judicature Amendment Bill, it was passed by the government in Parliament yesterday."
"We are committed to reducing legal delays and bringing people guilty of corruption to justice much quicker," he also added.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Thalatha Atukorale, addressing a press conference in Colombo earlier this week, said the Chief Justice would decide the first case that would be taken up before the newly established court.
The setting up of a special high court to try corruption was passed in Parliament yesterday with 119 MPs voting in favour of the bill.
