Former Minister S.B. Dissanayake said yesterday that not even 675 cents had not gone missing from the Samurdhi Bank which came under his purview.
Dissanayake made this remark in response to the UNP's allegations that Rs. 6.75 billion had gone missing from the Samurdhi bank in the recent past.
The former Minister said he fully accept responsibility for tje funds belonging to the Samurdhi bank.
He indicated that the allegation had been put forward to justify attempts to place the Samurdhi bank under the Central Bank.
The Prime Minister's office has however directed the Finance Ministry to hold an investigation into the matter.
The Ministry, which earlier came under the purview of Dissanayake, is now headed by UNP former Chairman Malik Samarawickrama.
