Minister Mangala Samaraweera has directed the heads of all media institutions to resign from their current positions. 

Sources close to the Minister said new heads will be appointed to administer state media institutions in the coming days. 

It is also learnt that the directive has been given under instructions of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. 

Sri Lanka's state media institutions came under severe criticism in the recent past over their failure on government propaganda.
