The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) today announced a trade union action against the recently signed Free Trade Agreement with Singapore.
In a media statement, the GMOA said the trade union action would be launched without prior notice.
The GMOA said the trade union action would be launched due to fears that the FTA would allow Singaporeans to enter into the job market of Sri Lanka.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo yesterday, National Freedom Front Leader Wimal Weerawansa also expressed the same sentiments.
The FTA with Singapore was Sri Lanka's first bilateral trade agreement with a foreign country in over 10 years.
