Several state institutions coming under the Education Ministry will be transferred out to the Higher Education and Cultural Affairs Ministry held by Wijedasa Rajapakshe, Asian Mirror learns. 

The move is aimed allowing Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam to spend more time with the UNP's internal matters. 

Kariyawasam was recently appointed the General Secretary of the UNP. 

Top political sources added that the transfer of institutions would be done with Kariyawasam's consent. 

The gazette notification pertaining to the allocation of state institutions among ministries is likely to be issued soon.
