Lawyer Sugandhika Fernando who sparked a controversy last week on social media was produced before court this morning for high-speed driving. 

Fernando drew the attention of social media as she openly criticized the conduct of some judges serving in the judiciary, in a public speech. 

She was issued a ticket by the Peliyagoda Police recently for violating speed limits on the Katunaike Expressway. 

The Police informed the Magistrate that the lawyer had driven her vehicle at 117kmph along the expressway, exceeding the stipulated speed limits. 

She was reprimanded by the Magistrate as she pleaded guilty over the minor offence. 

The Magistrate said the court would not pursue further action against the lawyer given her career in the legal profession.
