In a major step towards reorganization, the UNP today nominated new members to key positions in the party. 

All appointments were proposed by the political bureau of the party appointed earlier this month. They will be endorsed by the party Working Committee tomorrow. 

Akila Viraj kariyawasam was nominated the new General Secretary of the party while his predecessor Kabir Hashim was appointed the new party Chairman.

Navin Dissanayake has been appointed the new National Organizer while Harsha de Silva has been named as the new Treasurer. 

Sajith Premadasa and Ravi Karunanayake will remain as the Deputy Leader and the Assistant Leader respectively. 

Ruwan Wijewardena has been appointed the Assistant General Secretary of the UNP
