#loveinCeylon, a hashtag created for a Kiwi-Sri Lankan wedding that took place in Kandy last week, has been ranked trending #02 on Twitter, in New Zealand. 

Chamanthie Sinhalage and Dileepa Fonseka, two Sri Lankans grew up in New Zealand, had a fairytale wedding at Kandy's historic Mountbatten Bungalow - the first wedding held at the venue in its 100 year history.

Chamanthie is a senior Advisor to the Mayor of Wellington and Dileepa is a journalist working for Fairfax in Auckland. Both of them had received professional training in New Zealand as lawyers. 

The Kiwi-Sri Lankan wedding also drew the attention of multiple media stations in New Zealand, including Spinoff, one of the country's most prominent online news platforms. The largest wedding magazine in New Zealand too has been reporting stories about the planning process of the fancy Kiwi-Sri Lankan wedding - an event that saw the fusion of two different cultures. 

The wedding was officiated by Helen-Ann Hartley, the world's first female Bishop from the Church of England, who flew over to Kandy from the United Kingdom to officiate the wedding. 

"We had a tall order as we wanted it to be a Kiwi-Sri Lankan wedding and our suppliers in Sri Lanka were incredible. The CEO of regional tourism in New Zealand, who was one of the guests, said it was the wedding of the decade and that he and his wife had never seen anything like it. The Bishop was brought in by traditional Sri Lankan drummers and we had traditional Sri Lankan food stalls going," Chamanthie said. 

"Our suppliers were Eventz n Trendz as wedding planners, 90fWeddings as florists and decorators, Viran J Peter and Brides by Leena (hair and makeup) and Indi Yapa Abeywardena as the bridal sari designer. Seasons Travels brought everyone over for the wedding and also arranged for all the guests to tour around Sri Lanka in addition to the wedding. I must attribute the success of the wedding to everyone who supported in various ways," she added.
