United national Front National List Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera said he would launch a new national movement after the Vesak Poya day next week.
Speaking to a local newspaper, Rathana Thera said the new movement would unite all patriotic forces across the country.
"We will pushing for stronger reforms on protecting natural resources and strengthening sustainable development," Rathana Thera.
He also added that his political movement would not be in a position to move forward with the forces who have aligned themselves with the current government.
"I don't think we have a future with them. We must start a fresh journey," the Thera added.
Rathana Thera abstained from voting at the no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe earlier this month.
