‘Mahason Balakaya’ leader Amith Weerasinghe and 17 others were this morning further remanded till May 2.

The 18 were arrested for inciting violence in Digana during the racial riots that erupted in Kandy in Feb-March 2018.

Weerasinghe was arrested was arrested on March 8, in the aftermath of violence that killed one, and damaged scores of houses.  

Over 80 people were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Police, after he government imposed continued curfew on the affected districts, to bring the situation under control.
