Five persons died and ten were injured during an accident that took place at a rubber factory in Wellapitiya, Horana, a short while ago.

Police said the injured had been rushed to the hospital and were receiving treatment – several are in serious condition.

The accident occurred when a man fell into an ammonia tank at the factory. Four others who attempted to save him also died in the incident.

Police are conducting investigations into the accident.
