Former Minister and United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage has been re-arrested and re-remanded for failing to fulfill bail conditions.
Aluthgamage was arrested this morning after he arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) of the Police for questioning.
He was being questioned into the alleged misuse of state funds amounting to Rs. 39 million, used to purchase carrom and checker boards.
He was arrested by the FCID but later released on bail by the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
However the MP has been arrested and remanded again for failing to provide evidence that his passport was in the custody of the Colombo High Court.
