State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said all 16 SLFPers who voted against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the no-confidence vote would leave the government on April 19.
The minister made this revelation after the UNP backbenchers withdrew their no-confidence motion against the dissident SLFP ministers.
They are expected to sit in the opposition without leaving the SLFP.
The UNP has officially informed the President that the party is not ready to work with the SLFPers who voted in favour of the no-confidence motion.
The matter is expected to be further discussed at the Central Committee meeting of the SLFP starting at 7 pm today.
