Dissident SLFP Ministers Request President's Permission To Sit In Opposition: Also Pledge To Remain In SLFP

The SLFP Ministers who voted against the Prime Minister at the no-confidence vote last week today requested permission from the President to sit in the opposition in Parliament.

In a letter to the President, they had said they would remain in the SLFP and continue to support the President.

They said they would quit their ministerial portfolios only if the President directed them to do so.

Meanwhile, the United National Party and the parliamentary group made a unanimous decision to officially request from the President to remove the six SLFP Ministers who voted against the Prime Ministers during the no-confidence vote from the government.
