The United National Party Working Committee today decided to change all major positions in the party, except the party leadership. 

The new positions will be decided by a leadership council that was appointed today through a secret ballot. 

Ruwan Wijewardena, Harin Fernando, Ranjith Maddumabandara, Mangala Samaraweera, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Navin Dissanayake, J.C. Alawathuwala, Nalin Bandara, Ajith P Perera, Eran Wickremaratne, Sajith Premadasa and Ravi Karunanayake are the members of the council. 

This was the second leadership council appointed by the UNP in its recent party. A similar leadership council was set up in 2014, under the leadership of Karu Jayasuriya.

The committee also decided that there was no need to name the Presidential Candidate of the party for 2020 at this juncture.
