Internal reforms of the UNP will be widely discussed over the weekend, Project Management, Youth Affairs and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayaka said.
The Minister said the reforms would put the UNP back on the winning track and strengthen the party machinery.
"the UNPers acted with great patience over the past three years. While developing the country and strengthening the economy, our supporters too should be looked after. The last Local Government election was an eye-opener for us. It strengthened our resolve to correct our mistakes and march forward with renewed energy," Ratnayaka added.
"The no confidence motion too, in my opinion, was a boost to our party. It strengthened the government and the internal unity of the party," he also said.
The Minister also stated that the UNP was aware of the final result of the no-confidence motion from the outset and the party used it as an opportunity to bring everyone together as one force.
"Now the no-confidence motion is over and we must get back to us. The People are expecting rapid results on the ground and we have no time to delay further," the Minister stressed.
