A TNA delegation, led by Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan met President Maithripala Sirisena to discuss the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
At the meeting, the TNA Leader said a final decision on the party's position on the matter would be made at a meeting tonight.
Last night, during a meeting with a senior UNP group, President Sirisena warned the UNP against seeking the support of the Tamil National Alliance to defeat the no-confidence motion.
The President, speaking to UNP seniors headed by Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, said it would send a 'wrong message' to the public.
This was strongly responded to by Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera who said it was the President who sought the support of the TNA to win the last Presidential election.
