The United National Party has decided to expel any MP voting in favour of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, a senior party MP said.
Thee decision, he said, was in line with the unanimous agreement reached at the Working Committee meeting, today, to defeat the no-confidence motion presented by the Joint Opposition.
"According to the decision, every MP of the party must vote against the motion. Voting in favour of the motion, or abstention, will be considered a violation of the Working Committee decision," he added.
Two UNP MPs, namely State Ministers Palitha Range Bandara and Wasantha Senanayake, have openly expressed support for the no-confidence motion.
The vote on the no-confidence motion is likely to be taken on April 04, after the debate.
