Lakmal Dharmaratne, the director of the massively popular Sri Lankan teledrama 'Koombiyo', admitted that the last scene of the teledrama was changed.
"Our initial plan was to kill Jehan's character. My co-director Damitha Chandrasiri wanted that but I opposed. Then I also wanted to kill Jehan's character but at that point Damitha had changed his mind. So, we decided to keep his characted alive," Dharmaratne said, on the sidelines of an event to mark the end of the teledrama at Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, a short while ago.
"Apart from that, there was no change to the initial script," he said. The ending of the teledrama, however, left space for a second season.
Koombiyo became Sri Lanka's most popular teledrama in the recent past and created a massive following on social media platforms. A Facebook group was created for the drama - a first in the Sri lankan television history - and fans created Facebook profiles for each character.
Thumindu Dodantanne played the lead role of the drama while Kalana Gunasekera, Yureni Noshika, Peter D'Almeida and W. Jayasiri played supporting roles.
