The situation in the Kandy district has improved over the last 12 hours, multiple defence sources said. 

They said no violent incident has been reported in the area since last evening. 

As a result, IGP Pujith Jayasundara directed to lift the curfew with effect from 10 am today. 

However, there is a possibility that the curfew will be re-imposed in the evening to ensure security in the area. 

Facebook, Viber, WhatsApp and a few other social media and messaging platforms remain blocked.
