Over 50 people arrested in connection with the recent protest in Thambuttegama have been released on bail.
A tense situation occurred in the area last week during a protest launched by farmers against a drinking water project in Rajanganya.
The Police used teargas and water-cannons to disperse the protesters, as some of them hurled stones at the Police station.
The Police subsequently arrested over 50 people for behaving in an unruly manner during the protest.
Four policeman have been hospitalized for treatment following the brawl.
