Jaffna based Uthayan newspaper today reported that Officials from the Jaffna District Office have collected details of households over the last weekend.

Residents were asked by regional secretaries to list individuals in each household, and details were collected about empty houses, rented houses and the homeless.

According to Tamil Guardian, no explanation has been given by authorities pertaining to the inquiry.

There were various allegations from residents of Jaffna against government officials for intervening in day-to-day affairs of civilians.

Residents also state that their details were collected by various parties in the recent past on a number of occasions.

Although Asian Mirror attempted to contact Jaffna District Office in this regards our efforts did not bear fruit.
