SLFP Central Committee To Decide On Stance Regarding UNP ‘No Confidence’ Motion Against Prime Minister

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is to decide its stance on the no confidence motion to be brought by certain members of the United National Party (UNP) against its leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday (1) told reporters the SLFP would make a ‘reasonable’ and ‘responsible’ decision on the matter, taking the future well being of the country into account.

On February 26, UNP MP and State Irrigation Minister Palitha Range Bandara said a group of UNP MP’s has decided to bring a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Range Bandara said the MPs were calling for a change in the leadership of the UNP. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has been leader of the UNP since 1994.
