The Supreme court today issued an interim injunction barring the arrest of former IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne over the murder of Lasantha Wickrematunga. 

Speculation was rife that Wickremaratne would be arrested by the CID over the killing of the former Sunday Leader editor murdered on January 08, 

It was reported that Wickremaratne's arrest was imminent over destroying evidence in relation to Wickrematunga's murder. 

Former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara has already been arrested and remanded over the same matter.

The CID was probing into Wickrematunga's notebook which went 'missing' while in Police custody.
