Army Commander Mahesh Senanayake has appointed a five member committee to investigate into the grenade explosion inside a bus, at Diyatalawa, earlier this week.
Initial investigations revealed that the grenade was inside the bag of a soldier who travelled in the bus.
However, the identity of the soldier who carried the grenade in his bag has not yet been established.
It is suspected that the solder may have stolen the grenade from an Army camp with the intention of committing a crime.
It is in this context that the Army Commander has initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
The Army sources said stern action would be taken against the soldier who is responsible for the incident which left 19 people injured, including several soldiers.
