Party leaders today arrived at a unanimous decision to disregard 25% mandatory female representation in Local Government bodies.
The mandatory female representation was introduced last year, as a way of ensuring better representation for women at the policy-making level.
The party leaders who met at the Parliamentary complex agreed to disregard this legislation due to "practical difficulties".
They said measures to ensure mandatory female representation in Local Government bodies would lead to problematic and highly complicated situations.
This decision has already been communicated to the Elections Commission, Asian Mirror learns.
