The Cabinet of ministers met today, for the first time, after a week of political uncertainty.
Both President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe attended the meeting. The SLFP ministers, who earlier decided to leave the government and then changed their minds, were present at the meeting.
A Cabinet minister who attended the meeting said although the proceedings were seemingly peaceful, some ministers looked a "little shaken" over the media reports of a Cabinet reshuffle.
"There was a sense of uncertainty. No one exactly knew what was really happening," he said.
It is learnt that the proposed Cabinet reshuffle will happen this week and there will be drastic changes in some key ministries.
